Why you may need to adjust your slow cooker times

When a recipe says to cook for 8 hours, did you know that you might need to adjust your cooking times, especially if you find your slow cooked meals are either overdone or underdone at the end of the specified cooking times. But how do you know if you need to adjust?

The main issue is that many recipes are made using the latest slow cookers on the market. And newer slow cookers tend to cook at higher temperatures than older ones. So meals cooked in a brand new slow cooker versus one you have had for ten years could be quite different.
