Dried orange slices are often used for decorations during the Christmas holiday season. They can be added to potpourri, set at candle bases, or even strung in a garland.
Slice oranges thinly. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray and place evenly on sheet. Preheat oven to 200F and bake for about 2 hours, or until dried. Remove from oven and set aside to dry for a few more days. Then they are ready to be used for your holiday decor!
If you have a dehydrator, you can also dehydrate them in it, but be sure they are placed without the edges touching to ensure even drying.
If they start to lose their scent, let it sit in a bag of citrus potpourri for a few days or you can spray a bit of citrus essential oil, ensuring they don’t get damp (which can cause spoiling if they aren’t dried enough).
You can also dry grapefruit, lemons and limes using this method.
