If you aren’t talented at sharpening your own knives or you don’t own a sharpener, you can get your knives professionally sharpened. But where exactly should you get them sharpened?
Butcher Shops
Some butcher shops offer this service for free to regular customers or for a nominal fee. Some will sharpen on site while others use a service so you can pick them up a couple days later.
Kitchen Shops
Many high end kitchen shops offer knife sharpening for a fee, which will vary depending on the shop.
Knife Stores
Nearly all knife stores have on-site knife sharpening, and can often do it while you wait. Others will use a service of a professional knife sharpener who visits a couple of times per week to sharpen everything from knives and scissors to swords (yes, really!)
How much will it cost?
A good rule of thumb is about $5 per knife, although that can vary based on the type and size of knife.
