If you use recipes that call for the zesting of orange or lemon or lime, you probably ended up with fruit that has skin removed, which will dry out the fruit extremely quickly. But what can you do so that you can use that fruit for something else after you have zested the skin off?
Simply go and wrap the fruit very tightly and Saran Wrap, which will help avoid the problem where the moisture will seep out of the fruit once the zest is removed. Wrapped this way, the fruit will last for about a week in your fridge.
Do you need ideas of what you can do with this fruit once the zest has been removed?
One of the easiest things to think of is fixing it and using it in a drink, whether a fancy cocktail or just to dress up your plain water. You can also squeeze the juice from the fruit, and use it later in a cocktail, or freeze it in that ice cube trays so that you can use it in a recipe later. Freeze it in an ice cube tray, then after it’s fully frozen, simply pop them out and store them in a ziploc in your freezer.
