If you have done a lot of cooking, you’ve probably come across a recipe that specifies a specific dice size but refers to it as small, fine, medium or large. But if you haven’t gone to cooking school, you probably aren’t really sure what size dice actually means, especially if it could impact your recipe if you are making your dices too large or too small.
Here are the actual sizes for fine, small, medium and large dice, in inches.
Fine dice = 1/16″
Small dice = 1/8″
Medium dice = 1/4″
Large dice = 1/2″
If a recipe is using a different dice size, it will probably be specified within the recipe.
