Your perfect spice rack shopping list

If you are stocking your spice rack for the first time, or are wanting to purchase the most common herbs and spices called for in recipes, here is a list of staples you should own.

  • cinnamon
  • bay leaves
  • cayenne pepper
  • paprika
  • thyme
  • oregano
  • basil
  • peppercorns
  • rosemary
  • crushed red pepper flakes
  • salt
  • garlic powder

Of course, you may be a fan of a recipe that calls for celery seed or ground cloves, so don't not pick up a certain herb or spice simply because it isn't on the list. But this will serve as a great jumping off point for you to stock that spice rack.
