If you are making meatloaf or meatballs, the really best to mix it with your hands. This is one of those kitchen jobs we’re mixing it with a spoon won’t quite work as well. But it will tend to really stick to your hands, feeling like you have more hamburger meat mixture on your hands than in the bowl. So what can you do to prevent this from happening?
The first option would be to use a pair of nitrile gloves. However, they are a lot harder to find these days due to the pandemic. And if you have a supply of them, chances are you want to save them for situations where you are concerned about germs, such as visiting a hospital, and not just for mixing meat in the kitchen.
You can use another trick to prevent so much of the meat mixture from sticking to your hands. All you need to do is wet your hands before you start mixing the meat. Believe it or not, the water will help form a barrier that will prevent the meat from sticking to your hands as much.
After you wet your hands, simply mix your meatloaf mixture or form the meatballs for your meal. As always, when you are handling raw meat, be sure to wash your hands well with hot water and soap after handling it.
