If you have a frozen roast in your freezer, you want to preferably defrost it in the refrigerator so that the meat stays cold enough so you don’t have to worry about it spoiling as it thaws. But how long does it actually take to defrost a frozen roast in your fridge?
The answer comes down to how large the roast is. For a larger roast you need to allow about 4-5 hours per pound to thaw in the refrigerator. For a smaller roast, you need to allow 3 to 4 hours per pound.
Always place your roast on a plate or in a bowl in your fridge as you’re thawing it so that you don’t need to worry about any juice leaking out. The packaging of the meat could have actually been damaged while it was in your freezer so you might not realize that there is a hole in it and you don’t want the juice dripping into other food in your fridge.
