The safest way to defrost meat is by placing it in your refrigerator to allow it to slowly thaw while still maintaining a cold enough temperature for food safety reasons.
For a steak that is about 1 inch thick, you need about 12 hours for a defrost fully in your refrigerator. For a steak that is only half an inch thick, you need about 6 or so hours to fully defrost in your fridge.
Don’t forget to place your frozen meat in the packaging on a plate or in a bowl in your refrigerator so you don’t have to worry about any of the juices leaking onto other food in your fridge in case there’s a hole in the packaging.
