Do you think you can’t afford the occasional chicken breasts or even lobster? Think again. With careful planning many families can enjoy some of these pleasures of an occasional basis. So how do you do that? It’s fairly easy.
Plan your meals with items such as rice, pasta, or even a hot baked dinner rolls. these items are very filling. And when you are serving a meal with some of these filling staples, you can easily splurge on one or two chicken breasts you divide among the family for a treat, or a single lobster the entire family shares.
The trick is to have your family feel full, even though they might have only had two bites of lobster. and you’ll save yourself from hearing “Mom, isn’t there anymore of that?”
An easy way to do this is by serving hot rolls to start, followed by soup or salad. The soup can even be a $.49 can of Campbell’s soup, but the goal is to start filling up your family’s stomachs. that way when the main course arrives, the plate will be filled with your fillers (ie. rice or pasta) along with the special treat that makes up the entrée.
