If you don’t have a kettle, and you don’t have access to a stove where you can boil water in either a kettle or a pot, is it possible to make tea in the microwave instead? For those in dorm rooms who may not be allowed to have a kettle, but they do have a microwave for reheating, is possible to make tea in the microwave.
Making tea in the microwave is pretty simple simply take your teacup or mug and add your teabag then pour water over the top of it making sure you’re not filling the mug too close to the top. Then you want to microwave your tea for 30 seconds, on the 50% power setting. Let it sit for 1 minute, and then it’s ready for serving.
Because microwaves vary in strength, you may discover that it takes a little bit longer for you to get the tea up to your perfect temperature. But once you figure out how long it takes to microwave the tea to get to that perfect temperature, you should be able to use that same time amount every time you make tea.
If you like to add sugar, honey, cream, milk, or any other directions to your tea, you will do it after you remove it from the microwave. The tea in the microwave should be strictly water and your teabag.
This works for all varieties of tea, what do you like peppermint, chai, or a nice herbal tea.
It is worth adding a disclaimer that many people don’t feel but it is proper to make tea in a microwave. But if you have no other choice but you still are craving a nice cup of tea, it’s a perfect solution for you.
