Should you buy child-sized gardening tools?

Children get easily discouraged when they are trying to use things that are designed for adults rather than children. The same is just as true when it comes to gardening tools. Even a child who adores everything to do with gardening will soon become less than enthused with it when trying to hoe or shovel with adult sized garden tools, or with plastic child sized ones designed for a sand box rather than actual dirt digging for gardening.

Today, most gardening and home improvement centers carry a wide variety of gardening tools designed just for little ones. Tools include hoes, shovels, rakes, watering cans, gardening gloves, wheel barrows and more.

Like all gardening tools, the price will vary widely based upon quality. You can easily purchase the least expensive versions, and if your child becomes an avid gardener, you could consider puchasing additional pieces or tools of a higher quality.

By purchasing proper-sized tools for your child, you can easily nurture not only your garden, but a lifelong love of gardening in your child.
