If you have placed a hot object such as a baking dish or casserole directly on a wooden surface such as a dining room table or a sideboard, the table isn’t necessarily destroyed permanently. You can follow a few steps to remove the marks from the finished wooden surface.
First, using a clean dry cloh, remove the stain with rubbing alcohol. Then using another dry cloth, dab a small amount of camphor spirits (also sometimes called spirits of camphor) onto the area of the stain then polish with a dry cloth.
Finally, buff the stained area with cooking oil mixed with cigarette ash.
Do not do this on tables that have not been finished (such as stained or painted) and are simply bare wood.
