Whether your kids got into the Vaseline when you weren’t looking or you thought it would make a great substitute for hair gel, getting Vaseline out of hair is a long, tedious process. This is because Vaseline coats the hair and shampoo has a hard time penetrating it to get it out of your hair.
First, use a towel or paper towels first, if there is a lot of it – you don’t want that much Vaseline going through your washing machine! Then, have your child close his or her eyes, and put cornstarch on the head and rub it in slightly so it coats the hair. Let it sit for a few minutes then rinse. If this doesn’t get it all out, repeat one more time.
No cornstarch in the house? Try using a beaten egg mixture, peanut butter or even regular soap (without any moisturizer in it).
