Far too many people never wash their curtains. However, curtains are a perfect dust collector, so if you have allergies in your household, washing curtains is crucial to include in your cleaning routine. However, many people don’t know how to clean the curtains. So here is how to do it.
Check the curtains for UV damage. If the fabric has begun to break down, you can inadvertently destroy them while you wash them.
Check the curtains for any care instructions. If there aren’t any, you can either chose to have them drycleaned, or you can handwash them yourself.
If you decide to wash them yourself, do NOT wash them in your washing machine, even on a gentle cycle. You should hand wash them in your bathtub with gentle soap, then hang them to dry. They will drip a lot of water initially, so first allow them to hang dry in the bathroom before hanging them back up in place to continue to dry.
