Removing static electricity from carpets

We've all had problems with certain rooms or certain places seeming to have an immense amount of static electricity charge in the carpeting so that everytime you touch someone else or touch something metal, you get an electric shock. But what most people don't know is that you can quite easily remove the charge from the carpets so that you don't have this problem.

First, you need a spray bottle. Then mix 1 part liquid fabric softener to 5 parts water. Shake, then lightly spray over the carpet and allow to dry. This will need to be repeated every 3-4 months, or when the carpet begins shocking people again.
