Grocery Shopping Challenge Hall of Fame

Each week we will add bloggers  – who have taken up the Grocery Shopping Challenge and blogged about it – to our Grocery Shopping Challenge Hall of Fame.  So blog about your success – or at least your intention to take up the challenge! – and you just might see yourself in the Grocery Shopping Challenge Hall of Fame.

You don’t need to do anything to enter… we will notice anyone who blogs about it right from our WordPress Admin Panel, so all you have to do is blog the challenge! And you’ll get a cool Grocery Challenge Award for your blog to show off your money saving skills. And as a bonus, as more people begin doing the challenge, we might get some prizes for bloggers to win as well!  Want our Grocery Challenge image for your blog? Here it is!

My daughters are 13 and 15. I don’t usually shop with them but lately I have been. We take a list which they were involved in making. We have cash!! The amount is my best guess as to what the list will cost. We never shop more than once a week and normally it is every 10-14 days. As we shop we add up the prices and keep a running tally. It is easy with three people paying attention. Items such as ice cream are the last to be added. This provides a variety of lessons. How much is 5 for $4 if we only buy 3? How much do 8 potatoes cost at $.99 a lb? Is the store brand cheaper than the name brand sale/coupon? Sometimes we have to make choices about what to put back. They are now acutely aware of how much food costs and are not likely to waste much. Now, if I could only get my husband to play the game:)
